It's the little things that ultimately set the tone. The first coffee in the morning, while Matilda still dozes curled up on the sofa. Gustav's clumsy steps through the house, full of energy, as if every day holds a new adventure. And somewhere in between: me – with a head full of ideas, sketches, color samples and the deep conviction that beauty is only truly beautiful when it is honest.

This is what our everyday life at FRÆULEIN MATILDA looks like.

What appears calm and clear on the outside is, on the inside, a constant process of trying out, adjusting, and feeling. Between material samples, text samples, and the constant balancing act between family life, the office, and the chaos of creative processes, our collection is created – piece by piece, with both feet firmly planted in real life.

The brand wasn't created on a drawing board. It grew – with Matilda by my side, my silent observer. She brings calm to the day. Often she just lies there, observes, listens. She reminds me that clarity often arises when you allow yourself to be still for a moment.

And then there's Gustav. Wild, full of curiosity, always on the go. He sweeps me away, brings energy to the room, demands spontaneity. When I'm outside with both of them – Matilda in her thoughtfulness, Gustav in his exuberance – it's like a reflection of what lies at the heart of FRÆULEIN MATILDA: balance. Between stillness and movement. Between aesthetics and function.

Daily inspiration is often right in front of me – in play, in the weather, in the light on a piece of fabric, in a moment that sticks with me.

We work with natural materials such as leather, linen and cotton, because they not only feel good, but also tell stories – of use, of everyday life, of real life. Nothing with us is ironed smooth or trimmed to a high gloss. Our products are allowed to bear traces. Just like us.

Behind every product lies a decision-making process, in which we often ask ourselves: Does this suit our home? Is it well thought out? And: Does it feel right? Only when we can say "Yes" with a good feeling does it find its way into the collection.
